Geothermal efficiency without the boreholes.

ecoGEO+ heat pumps can take their heat from dry coolers. Outdoors there is only an exchanger and a fan. Indoors, the same variable-speed unit that makes heating, cooling and hot water.

A four-storey office building cut open, with three dry coolers on the roof and an ecoGEO+ HP, two tanks and insulated pipes in the plant room

How it works.

  1. Outside

A dry cooler, a heat exchanger with a fan, collects heat from the air. It also rejects heat when the building needs cooling. There is no compressor outdoors.

  2. Inside

The ecoGEO+ unit holds the variable-speed compressor, the economizer exchanger and the controls. It heats, cools and makes hot water up to 149 °F, and up to 167 °F with HTR.

  3. In between

A hydronic loop connects the two, so everything between them is plain piping. There is no limit on the distance between the outdoor and the indoor unit.

Why choose dry coolers.

Defrost with water
The unit defrosts through a heat exchanger inside, without using the compressor. You choose where the defrost energy comes from: hot water, the production side, the buffer tank or the pool.
Hybrid with the ground
Combine dry coolers with a smaller borehole field. The e-source controller manages up to three sources and uses the most efficient one at each moment.
Less noise
A single fan outdoors, and no compressor, so there is less to hear on the roof or beside the building.
Less wear
Only an exchanger and a fan face the snow, the rain and the salt, so there is little outdoors to wear.
No wells to drill
No drilling permits, no rigs and no lost weeks on site. It suits sites where boreholes are hard or too costly.
Fits each budget
Start with dry coolers at the lowest first cost. Add a ground loop later, or size a hybrid from the start.

  2. 2ecoGEO+ HPVariable-speed compressor and economizer exchanger in one cabinet.
  3. 3ControllerRuns the whole plant. With e-source it manages up to three sources and the defrost priority.
  4. 4Hot and cold tanksStore the energy for heating, cooling and hot water.
  5. 5Backup boilerThe last resort. It is used only in extreme outdoor temperatures or for safety, and it joins after the heat pump, on the production side.
